Although this map gives some idea of the intensity of persecution in various regions of India, it must be understood that persecution is being reported in every state of the country.  Many churches have been burned by radical Hindu mobs and an untold number of Christians have been brutally murdered.  The violence is the worst in such states as Orissa but has risen to an alarming level in other states that were once more tranquil like Karnataka.  Even the state of Kerala which has a strong Christian heritage has not escaped the persecution that has spread throughout the country.
